Quarterfinal Wednesday

Welcome to Quarterfinal Wednesday here at Sanlando Park. The Armstrong women's tennis team is getting ready to take the court against NYIT at 9 a.m. - and the Pirates will make their first appearance this week on the NCAA's Live Video for today's match against the Bears. This is the furthest that NYIT has ever made it in the NCAA tournament and, after the Pirates outlasted the NYIT men's team yesterday, you can expect the Bears will be game for today's matchup.

Yesterday was a marathon day in the Round of 16 - a day that did not finish until after 3 a.m., where Southwest Baptist's men's team beat Bluefield State, 5-4. The other big news of the day was Saint Leo's 5-4 upset win over No. 3 BYU-Hawai'i in the women's bracket. It's always news when the Seasiders fall in the tournament - this was the first time a team other than Lynn or Armstrong had eliminated BYU-Hawai'i from the NCAA Tournament.

So follow the Pirates this morning as they try to advance to the semifinals, but also watch our post-match interview with Pablo Gor and Pedro Scocuglia after the Pirates' 5-1 win over NYIT late last night. Go Pirates !
